Five Seeds

The Five Seeds.

-They are waiting for you, Daenair. You've been awaited for years, so they expect you to show them the world outside this village.
Mena told his elder daughter to bring the map, the girl left the room reluctantly and fetched them a round piece of brown fabric covered with lines and letters in yellow ink.
-This is where the road splits, the northwest one leads to the lakes, the eastern will bring you to the Grey Mountain. They say there are three ways to cross the mountain chain: climb over, take a long turn round or go through the tunnel. I must warn you - none of our families had ever gone beyond those peaks, so the unknown lies there.
-Thank you, Maniiv, - Keranomu took the map bowing down to Mena and his sullen daughter. - Please, forgive us for what we have done.
-No trouble at all - smiled back Maniiv Mena, - It could only be done that way. I'm glad indeed that I do not owe lady Viroka her farva anymore. It must have been unbearable to live without a part of the soul.
His eyes suddenly widened and he freezed as if spotting something spooky in front of him, and Ke had to turn his head back quickly, but nothing was there.

-What is wrong?
-I do not see it clear for now...But I must warn you, Daenair, something unexpected will happen soon, something you do not want to happen. You have to keep your all your senses alert, watch the world through each other's souls.

And off they went, The Daenair and their new companions - those who wished to be girars, all the way down to the grey sandy valley, passing by the Barren Grove till they stopped at the crossroads.
-What now? -asked Naghill, who was hardly hiding her impatience. -Sandaren, what do you say, the hole in the Mountains or The lakes?
Keranomu was taking lead since their departure, so he was the map bearer. He, together with Fernollg and Hjotennir, was pondering over the brown circle of cloth, frowning and pointing here and there.
-This map is quite inaccurate! - said Hjot, - the distance between this Grove and the shoreline seems huge, though I can see it's very close. And the road takes a turn left before splitting in two.
-And you...
-Obviously, I must to. But as we have apprentices in training, I'd let them do the job, under my supervision.
He ordered two of the young men to get a piece of cloth.
To his disappointment, they did not have an idea of making ink, so he had to ask Fernollg to teach them the easiest mixture. They, as well as most of the villagers, were a bit scared knowing who Daenair were and what power they bore, so it seemed breaking the ice would be impossible.

Maniiv was still in Llava's Safe Chamber, lying in her feverish sleep, without talking or even opening her eyes since she had been recreated.

-We have to wake up Viroka. Zabjh, would you do us a favour? I think she is going to listen to your voice, not any of ours.
In less than five minutes Hjotennir brought her from the Chamber, she was all pale and weak, though she tried to smile to them.
-Can she really do it?
-I can always do that, amyi, -responded Maniiv, - never mind, if my body is weak or strong, Yah is all i need to hear the town.
Naghill was following her with her glance.
-I do not like the way she talks. She never used to talk like that.
Maniiv nodded to the Daenair, knelt before the border as she usually did, closed her eyes and put her palms gently to an invisible wall between them and the town, but as she did her body shook abruptly and she curled down, as if she was twisting in sudden pain.
The Daenair ran to her to see what had happened, but she already got up back to her feet, strangely vivid, as if the strike had pumped her with wild force.

-Mavi, what the hell happened? - shouted Ke. - Is that border trapped or so?
Maniiv was staring at them with a firm and fierce expression.
-Listen to me. The Cold City, the soul-eating, life-sucking thing... And the Labyrinth in our first journey... put them together, add the Hunters with their tortures, spice up with the worst of your fears and nightmares, and that would be the light shadow of what is waiting for you there.

Naghill raised her hand and stopped her.
-Enough with the poetry, savi. Are you sure of what you've seen there? Cause you seem to be hysterical, and not just to me.
-Please, for once, stop being so hard-headed! - said Maniiv, - I know it's a dead end and we have to walk back and turn round the mountains. So what, Naghill?
We all are going to disappear forever, once we step through that border. If that is better, go ahead...
-Enough,- bellowed Keranomu, - enough talks. I will see it for myself.
Nobody had a chance to utter a word before he rushed to the film and stepped through it...completely unharmed.
He turned back and grinned at them, waving his hand.
-So, where's daymarish monster? Eh, Mavi?
The girl looked petrified and embarassed.
-What is it, - whispered Naghill, - you just look at Viroka!
-Those look like a star of seeds, the one you can see if you cut an apple in two.

-Listen up! - said Fernollg loudly, - we must get through this, Gresig talked to me, he is awaiting on the other side of the mountain, sorry, Mavi, but you are wrong this time. We are going to be safe.

Days and nights seemed no different to me as I have been praying to Him, crushing and erasing my ego, the more, the stronger was the pain of disappointment. The despair haunted me, whispering in my back that I have lost it all, I shall never see my beloved one and shall never reach the heights he did.
Where should I lead my mind? I recalled a talk with my dearest  Llava-vadu that we had back to the Cold City; sitting there on the dirty stairs between two floors he told me:
"-They do not know how much it costs to be a selfles smiler. Selfless, you see? I must give up my earthly misled Yah to open the gate for my perfect, divine self, Farva."
And then it happened, it occured to me that the reason why my poor vadu had been suffering failure, was that he had got it all wrong.
Destroying, denying, supressing his soul, he gained bitterness and disillusion, but never he had peace in his mind. My brother, you shared your kindness and you cared about me when I woud have never believed anyone could remember me. Let me tell you now : tortures can leave no wisdom in your mind, nor can they bring you to light.
No man can bear the pain we feel. But you must answer youself and be utterly honest: is getting rid of this pain what you desire? Or you cherish your suffering, making it last?
My most beloved brother, the way to be out of aching is to open your heart to it. Embrace the pain and let it in, let yourself sink in it, like a stone drowns in the sea, let it turn you into a waste desert, burnt and empty, dying for a drop of rain; it will make you scream and tear your hair, but you must swallow it all, and let it become you.
Once your soul is nothing but pain and you are empty like a clay jug, there's the time to fill it.
But how, you may ask me. Where the fluid of life would emerge from to heal you?
Think of what keeps us alive. Us, the six, what could keep bringing us together, through ages and worlds?  desire? love? revenge?
It is up to you to find the source of your revivals inside your farva.
Now, do not ask me, just see what I saw, feel what I felt to understand what is that we need, what Ensa must have understood before: your Farva is you, there is no need to eliminate your memories or imprison yourself and isolate from the world to rech it, all you need is to accept all about what you are, face your farva, this is the Judgement Hour for you, what's the point in hiding?
Hide where? From what or whom?
How are you going to hide if the world around you is you and only you?
How can I hide when everything is me? The body that hides and the stone it hides behind is me, the eye of heaven watching the hiding body and the stone is me, and the road, the cities, the fire, the wheels rolling on the dust, those who are free and the miserable ones, the five beloved, my friends, all those who are dead and alive, my illusions, my memories, is all me. And yet, nothing is me, as becoming everything deprived me of myself, I am...and I do not exist.
I see you, my love, your heart is my heart, you are everywhere I go, wherever I turn my head, you are inside me and I am in you, we had never parted, didn't you notice?
And I stood in the middle of nowhere and in the centre of the universe, laughing my head off and turning around in the whirl of joy, like children do, with arms wide open and hands raised to the sun, the world spinning around me like a carousel.
No thoughts, no death, no aim, I was dancing and all my lives and the worlds I'd ever gone through, were running through my heart, and As I saw everyone who ever came onto my way, the heart filled with pain and compassion, to all I'd been, and the tears were running down my face as the prayer was born inside my soul:

mercy to all existing
forgiveness to all who repent
grace to all who is in the dark...

I was on my knees with my fingers knotted in a sign of devotion, the light overwhelming my head and chest, breaking through my boundaries, transforming into the words I was whispering.

...let anyone who seeks find the path
let those who are lost see the eternal light.

And as I said the last few words, the world around me trembled and shook with the sound of another song, the prayer that gave me back my life.

the eternal fire, create me every day,
rise me and grant me will,
and joy of life
And peace to my mind
Do not forsake me...

Then, there came the voice, the one I would never mistake, saying it along with me:

... and
into the pure flame return me.

I knew I wasn't dreaming.
He stood in front of me, alive and immortal, unbelievably real, as if I had never had lost him.
Our eyes met, and then... I became myself again, I realised what am I.
strike, hit
sharp beams flashing through my mind
shivers down the spine and heavy stone inside my chest
my heart felt like a drum being smashed by unstoppable hands of a mad drummer
then I couldn't help myself but fell in front of him on the ground and hugged his legs, crying, smiling, kissing his hands and feet, as the world stopped existing again.

Fire Water Air

The three parts to start the process.
The Man, the Driven one.
The Woman, the catalyst.
And the third one, the Child, the addressee.

The Driven one is the past, he is knowledge, wisdom and light-starter, the Creator.

All the present is in the Woman. She is the waters of existence, containing everything necessary for the Creation. Water accepts, forgives and purifies; it creates motion wherever everything seems stagnated, it grants a chance for changing and opens hearts for love and care.

The Wind is Future, it's the messenger who brings the words of truth.
He and the Woman create Chaos and Destruction, while the alliance of Fire and Water gives birth to ten thousand things.

No one could guess what did Gresig really had in mind: Viroka and her daughter Haromin, Hyffes and Maniiv-Mena, as well as Golleg Mazran used to draw everyone's attention and distract from noticing that the real centre of the story is humble and pietic craftsman.
But then there was something that disturbed Gresig's smooth - during their trials, tests and meditations, seeking for the essence and the anatomy of human beings, Llava and Maniiv discovered certain important substance; Gresig tried to open the up to find that only them two understood its true nature, calling it "water", but remained silent even toward him.

She wouldn't withold the secret, but try to help her beloved on their path, obviously. So, any obstacle that couldstand between them two had to go, th

Gresig's wish had come true: Hjotennir crossed the boundaries of his own self and left tactible and comprehensible worlds. However, did he leave forever?

I loved sitting on the sunlit stones of the canal's bank, watching the boats gliding upon the silk-smooth surface of the river that flew through the city cutting it in two.

This note had been recieved by
Teimur on the Fifth night of the Hunt.
He never knew who was the sender.
It said:
"Kaetto isn't a traitor, a silent one is.
Get the Six out of the City, as soon as possible!"

The Nest

Father ( I called him "naenae", like all girar children do) has made it for me, my nest bed, all green and blue, soft like a cloud. Every night I crawled into it, cuddling up with my blanket, rere stroked my hair and I tell her stories and we sang and talked until one of us got really sleepy.

Naenae usually came home in the early morning, the time me and rere were fast asleep. I made myself get up and sit in the hall waiting for him, so I can greet him first.
I felt I wouldn't cope anymore, so I took a half of rere's broken pencil and wrote on a small piece of paper:
"Naenae, if you find me sleeping, please wake me up so I can say "morning" to you. Please do not take me to bed and go to sleep, Roro would be very sad."

Neither him, nor rere had ever told me off for being childish, to my great surprise: when they came back, I expected them, the first girars and immortals, to be strict and ascethic, demanding, but  instead they gave me all their love.
Looking back, I can say: those were the best years of my life.
Father had forgiven my horrible attitude I throw him when I was three, he saw me having changed greatly, and he was pleased and proud of me.
There wasn't a day without us two having at least a short talk, asking about each other's day.

He was on his way back to the town he had left ages ago. The lockdown on Golleg's island gave him enough time to think and decide, so now he knew exactly what to do.
He, Llava Hyffes of the Thousand Names, was going to gain the City of the Wells, and turn it solely into the Daenair land.
None shall be here, but us.

Sad and lost, Llava was walking on the abandoned streets, looking at the now dead places where his life had began.
This is what can happen to the city that had lost its soul. The people left, and thus had gone the spirit, the life.
There weren't a single living being around.
Over three hundred years had swept through the squares and shafts, the once beloved city lied there dead, gloomily staring at him with the empty black holes of its windows.
-This is the place to be at, - he thought, - this is where we settle. The dog will finally catch its tail, the circle will be complete, the girars will end up where they started.
Llava stood in a narrow street that lead to the ruins of what once was a small library, Gresig's home and tea house, where he met those people who hadn't had a shadow of a thought about what their fate would bring and who shared their lives with him.
-Here is where we all return.- he said aloud, closing his eyes and rising his arms to gather the light of his Yah and transform it into matter, creating an entrance into the Passage, which is going to remain open till due time.
He entered the Passage and looked around, seeking for a sign, a signal that would lead him to the one who could pierce the time, as he had a plan in mind and there was only one to help him make it real.

The midday sun was streaming through the tree leaves, beaming right into her eyes. As her mother once taught her, she half closed her eyelids so the rays and the shadows danced, mixed and shimmered, getting her dizzy and dragging her mind into a awaken dream.
Mother, do not let me find you, she begged in her trance, do not let me see where you are.
The shadows were shaking wildly, twisting and twinkling, as they grew thicker and took a shape of a face...the face she knew well and begged her soul to forget.
She closed her eyes tightly to stop the vision and kept very still, for a moment she thought it was gone, yet there he was, right before her he stood, as real as her own skin, the man she fell for when she was a little dreamful overexcited girl, the same man whose feet she once was warming up with her little hands and her breath near the fire at the backyard of her father's house.
-You came to surrender, didn't you, U-Hyffes? - she said, knittig her brow.-You must know that we are chasing the girars around the worlds, have you lost your mind?
Llava never said a word, instead waiting fot her to get up and greet him.
-Ah, perhaps, you are expecting me to drop my knees and roll in the dust, like my stupid mother would do for you?
-You speak like her, Romi.
The woman shrudded as he had called her by a pet name, then waved her long dark hair back and stood up in front of him.
-It can be the last word for you to say. Though, I may give you a chance to flee. Catch you later, I am not in the mood to deal with you now. Use you as a bait...why shouldn't I?
You were a bait once, weren't you? The Six had their most shameful moments there, and they suffered for your sake, Binni.
How long did it take you to find me, by the way?
It must have been years, right?
-Your help is needed, Ritsoni*.
-That's why you dare to bring up my title? - she said, twisting her mouth sideways in a sarcastic smile, but underneath her voice whispered in his head: "Please, he will kill you, he is insane, go, alai, do not let Morrowo get you!"
Llava didn't move a muscle and kept staring into her face.
"-Follow me." - he whispered back and stepped aside, showing her the trembling matter of his Dolaea"r, and she did.
Haromin got through the veil separating them from the Passage, and there he stood, in an appearance she had never seen before: clad in a golden and magenta robe, with the mask of Silence on his face and the Copper Sphere in his right hand, half hidden within wide sleeves.
This was not the lost man who came out of imprisonment without an aim on his way or a thought on his mind, she was seeing an enigmatic and majestic creature of no age or gender, the Silent Daenair, ancient and incredible.
-There is a power in you that is incomprehencible for me. - he said in his quiet, enchanting voice, - the power of going through time. There are things to change, and I beg you for assisstance. Please, don't reject me.
He bowed to her and folded his fingers in the Obligation Gesture.
Haromin narrowed her eyes.
-Why couldn't you ask my father? Wait...what had happened?
Llava hesitated, then sighed in despair.
-I have lost trace of Aensatsu. He disappear from any of the worlds that are known to me. Neither can I find the Daenair ladies.
-What are you saying? - whispered Haromin, - You mean, everyone's gone?
-Yes. And they are not within the passage or anywhere I could reach. I know that Keranomu has been in Haelegaes and ruled it, and then one day he left and disappeared as well. Golleg, if you wonder about her role in this, is oblivious. She said she could not hear or see her sister anymore, and I must say, it could not be more amusing to see that lady so frustrated.
Yet, Haromin didn't smile.
-Llava, I am the leader of the hunters who destroy the girars families. I am the traitor and criminal. Why don't you confront me?

-I know what and why are you doing. I am not the one to judge you. Haromin, you must...
-Llava, he did it! - suddenly screamed the woman, - Sumanin, the gran-ar, the Passage Guardian! he was catching my mother and the ladies in the passage after they died, and then killing them! they are dead, dead forever.
Haromin yelled and fell on the ground, crying and hiding her face in her hands.
-I read his memories, he kept killing them over and over, until they never came back to the passage.
They are all dead...
-If that's what you've seen, it explains their absence. Though, I believe, none of them had lost existance.
-He was bragging that he knew how to destroy farva! Morrowo...he is damned insane cadavre!
Llava took off his mask, and she saw his eyes again. He seemed calm and impartial, but his eyes now had a new look.
He raised the woman to let her see that, and she did, and she felt it; her heart ached and she was ashamed for everything she had done, regrets, she had plenty.
-We are together now, - he said to her, - I won't leave you, and we will seek for our family to let them see each other once again.

*Ritsoni - "the one that can pierce the time"( ri =time; tsoruga= pierce, penetrate; "ni= ani, postfix meaning "able, the one who can")

I saw Una-Varae standing in our front yard, so I ran out shouting "Kayama!", I was about to hug her, but as I rose my arms, she gave me a sound slap on the face. I was petrified, my cheek was burning, and I felt like bursting into tears, but the glance she had given me made me believe I must not. Then my mother came, and she saw what had happened; she was furious, so she ordered una-Naghill to get lost, but una-Naghill gave a sarcastic smile and said: "I wouldn't come for you, Dzimmachi, would I. You do not have to honour me with your presence."
Then they went into silent talk.
I tried to break in their conversation, but as soon as I did I regret it, as Varae had pushed me away and send me warning sign so I stood aside.
She disappeared then, and my mother comforted me and went inside to question father about what had happened; I was left alone in the yard, when I heard Una-Naghill's voice calling me to meet her in Dolaea"r.
She invites me to sit in front of her, asking if I understood why she had slapped my face, and warned me to answer anything she asked. I was so scared of her that I didn't dare to talk back and nodded. She frowned and ordered to answer with my voice, not head jerks. Then she repeated her question, looking right into my eyes. I said perhaps I did something inappropriate, and she nodded.
"-Not only is it impolite, it is very dangerous. Do you greet every stranger this way?
-No, I don't. Only my mother, father and the Daenair.
-Haromin Viroka, - she said coldly, - you can not judge strangers by their appearance. Did you see my Yah colours?
-I saw them! Mother showed me all...
-Still, you must be alert. Did you mother tell you about the Hunt and the traitors among girars?
-Yes, I know that. And...
Naghill abruptly stopped me.
-Enough. Do not answer about what had not been asked. Less words, more quick thoughts. Understood?
-Now, how do you greet me when you see me next time? Show me.
I stood up, took four steps back and knelt, tucking my skirt under. I put straight hands together in and extended joined thumbs and index fingers, then laid them down and lowered my head to touch the ground.
Naghill laughed.
-Are you asking me to let you in, or inviting me?
I blushed, feeling stupid: what I did was not greeting, but permission to enter.
Then I opened my hands and laid them down with my palms open to the sky.
-Well, that's acceptable. Who has taught you, Viroka Junior?
-Aensa U-Taeimur, and Una Liyun and sometimes her sister...
-Hal. - she helped. - I got it. Well, you've got way to go.
Now you know how to behave with the guests. Some don't like to be touched and you must respect their wish to remain untact. Did you learn your lesson?
-Yes, I did,- I responded, - I am very grateful to you.
I bowed down to her, with my left hand fingers around my right wrist.
When raised my head, she had almost dispersed in Dolaea"r, as I heard her distant voice:

The girar tribes, unlike many kasalingir believe, have very clear ideas about discipline, rules of behaviour for their family, camp, community or even the whole city.

Camp rules

The settling starts with finding a dry and safe place for the tents.
According to the tradition, the Fire Watcher starts the fire in the middle of the selected ground.
Every day and night the Wind Watcher must be on guard of the camp, usually using the foldable transportable watchtower (actually, a chair on the tall rack and ladder).

Subordination to elders

The elder does not necessary mean the oldest by age, moreover many of girars look young despite being over hundreds years old.

The younger and unexperienced girars, both children and newbies of the camp, must obey to the rules: listening carefully, holding back when disagreeing and expressing themselves in a respectful way, independent of their age.

There are certain rituals girars observe, that seem wild and weird to the citizens, such as paying hommage by kneeling and bowing to the ground,
placing palms to the other's knees (haelaschoedi ritual);
if their relationship status or personal agreement allows, a girar may also kiss another one's hand or clothes.

Haromin, for instance, recollects that she used to greet her parents, as well as the rest of Daenair by kissing their left hand, except of Naghill Varae who resents physical contact and accepted a distant greeting by a kowtow and gestures. And as Haromin herself states, there isn't anything humiliating in showing gratitude and respect to someone you love. She describes a scene that occured during the Ninth round, when Naghill came to visit her father in their house in Haeleges.    "It was the first time we met..."

Gender or origin never mattered for the girars. Both men and women have equal rights within a family.

Later generations also practice asking for blessing from the ancients.

Round Seven
The Gran-air arrive to a new city after being
respawned and instantly captured by the Poyge sect,
who watch the unconcious strangers emerging from the thin air and tie them up one by one,
first nailing Llava to the table with a steel rod through his palm, then forcing Maniiv to humiliate and beat Fernollg, then she gets raped by Keranomu while the children stab Llava's limbs.
The nightmare is over when Naghill starts playing zimarhin outside, luring the children out and taunting them, misleading them to give freshly respawned Hjotennir time to get ready and come for the rescue.
He realizes that he must now fight alone against dozens of deranged kids. With Naghill urging and empowering him, he calls for the captured Daenair begging them to think him whatever it takes. Gathering his Yah's might, he becomes the empty shell, filled with the Naryi ("water", or energy),  letting it pass through his body and Yah. At some point, he realizes that obtains the power of Omnipresence: he could stand at any point of the world, in front of each person, fighting ones and comforting the others. After having pulled himself together, Hjotennir knocks unconcious all the Poyge child warriors and frees the Daenair, while Naghill kills the Poyge Chief.
Llava had lost a lot of blood and was in a critical condition, Hjot was exhausted after the Omnipresence blast, the other three were so ashamed of their weakness and failure that they refused to talk at all.
Naghill took care of all them, putting them together on the ground in the way they used to sleep (in a circle, face up, head to head), she made everyone holding each other's hands, then joined them.
She led them into the meditation, to make then feel united, fill them with willing, and their Yahir merged together fully for the first time.
They were found by Gresig who showed them way to the nearest city.
Maniiv contacts with its soul and says its friendly and welcoming. They are accepted by the city's Yah and start finding their living.
Gresig hints that they

How it was:

After they voted to go for a road search,
Hjotennir and Maniiv ran into the road robbers gang, and had to flee, when Hjot was badly wounded with four arrows.
They did get into a tiny village near the mountains, where Hjot fell into feverish slumber and was a breath away from death.
The village midwife told Maniiv her friend is dead, but when she was about to ask to see his body, the riders stormed into the house and tried to capture her, villagers did not want troubles and were glad to give a stranger woman to the riders. Luckily, Maniiv had managed to escape to the Mountains. In the morning she started crossing the peaks  to get to the other side. She saw a beautiful green valley, with three villages along the river, fields, gardens and a castle on the far hill. She descended to the village called Tea-Kmateli, and asked for a shelter at the local Sanctuary, stood there for over three weeks for rest and meal, paying her stay by cleaning rooms and helping to get the firewood.
She got familiar with a language they spoke, it was quite different from the one across the mountains, but the Sanctuary people could speak a wee bit of Kanta, so Maniiv got a book from the Prior, with parallel translation from Kanta to Teaish and after a while she started to understand their way of talking.
It was a great relief that the Sanctuary people had accepted her, a stranger, and let her learn their language, helping her with great patience.
It was a breezy sunny day when Maniiv went for a walk onto the hills to see the place she wished to have her home at. An almond tree next to the abandoned shack and an old well, with a silver stream rmurmuring nearby, a peaceful sunlit land in the middle of the valley surrounded by gorgeous greyheaded mountains.
She went up on the hill looking at the plain beneath and spotted the ground with the crowd around and two groups of people inside of the fence; they looked like they had been playing some kind of hunting game: two of them had large birds and they were sending them around to snatch their prey.
Maniiv had joined the crowd to watch the game and she couldn't take her eyes off the man in green, who played
elegantly and fair, he looked like he was one of the people inside the ring, though his posture, manners and attitude showed he belonged to the upper class.
as he stood closer to the viewers, Maniiv noticed two men looking at the green man, looking suspicious.;
One of them caught a moment and threw a pointy dart at the green man, but Maniiv saw it and had stopped the dart having it grabbed right in the air.
It was so impressive, that the green man, who spoke perfect Kanta, offered Maniiv to stay and be his personal bodyguard
He turned to be the Lord of this valley called Tea, thd name he bore was Taeimur-az.
She followed him to the castle, actually, a fortress, where she was to stay to serve the Lord. To prevent anyone from trying to court her, Maniiv had said she was a widow and was in grief for her late husband, so the Lord and the rest kept a respectful distance.
She refused to eat at the table with the Lord and his men, preferring to share the meal time with the servants, though later the Lord's advisor insisted she should take care of her master during the feasts and watch out for the poisoners.
The advisor was one of the few people who could communicate with Maniiv, though she was keeping on learning Taeish, it wasn't easy. Neither was her stay there, as unlike the villagers, the castle people were cold and slightly hostile to her, which made her to stay sharp and alert.
There she had spent about two years, succesfully preventing two attempts of assassination, earning the Lord's respect and affection, as well as hatred from those who were connected to the plot.
She taught Taeimur-az the Path of Soul, and told him all about the girars. They spent loads of time together, which could not remain unnoticed.
The rumours about "the seducing widow" were spreading and growing, forcing the Lord to arrange marriage faster to save his and Maniiv's reputation.
The two main plotters had been executed by the time, and he was less concerned about his safety, so one day he left the castle for a week to come back with his new wife, a young princess of the neighbouring county on the East.
The poor thing was scared of the new place of living, and her sudden old husband.
Maniiv felt pity for her and took her under her wing, having got rid of the nanny who followed the girl everywhere and never let her make a step without mentoring.
Kaettohi had found it great and she said to her husband to get another bodyguard, so Maniiv could take care of the Lady of the castle, and had no other choice but agreeing.
The two women spent all their time together, Kaetto taught Maniiv the Teaish language and learned Kanta and At-Girar, Maniiv showed her some self-defense techniques and on the top of all shared her knowledge of the Yah. Keatto appeared to be amazingly fast at learning, flexible, determined and agile, she absorbed any knowledge she could get, soon she could talk to Maniiv without words, using their yahir inside the self-made dolaear (the communication field).
After a while, Taeimur had called Maniiv to accompany him in his visit to one of the neighbour Lords, and when they returned, the foul tongues started sending runours about the Lord and his "mistress". The pressure was so high that Maniiv had to ask Taeimur to let her go. He told her to ask for anything she needs, and he gave her that small piece of land on the Almond hill. Kaetto took charge and under an excuse of building her own residence, ordered to turn the old shack on the hill into a house, she was authoritive and harsh, so the builders did their job faster than anyone would expect.
Maniiv got into her new house soon and Kaetto wished to stay there, and she did, but in a week time Taeimur had ordered her to be in the castle as the wife must do, much to her annoyance.
Maniiv lived quiet and lonely life, having seldom talks with Kaettohi, who was then overly busy with performing her duties as the Valley Lady, and on the top of all got pregnant.
Viroka's loneliness, though, had been interrupted by sudden appearance of none other but Hjotennir, whom she believed was long dead. In fact, he was saved by a village potter, who found him on the village square and noticed he was alive, he recovered and was told that the woman he came with had probably died in the wild woods.
He had believed the story and then sent out the letter to the town of Nochitti, knowing that Gresig must have been passing it, telling him to get the group to the mountain village.
Then, when they all gathered, they got onto another side of the peak, following Maniiv's path and so they found the Tae valley, there they surely heard about the "stranger woman" who served the Lord and then retreated to her shack on the hill.
Hjotennir rushed there and found Maniiv in the meditation room of her small house. As soon as he stepped inside, Maniiv had got a calling from Kaettohi saying she gave birth to a baby boy, but Maniiv couldn't respond her and Kaetto was very disappointed and frustrated.
The two gran-ar were acting cold, without really being happy to see each other alive. He asked her if she was willing to follow the rest of girars away to North, Maniiv said it's her life here and now. Hjot gave her few days to make up her mind as the girars were going to enjoy the Tae valley's hospitality.
Few days extended into a week, and Maniiv was visited by Kaetto, who demanded to go outside of the castle, through blackmailing and threats. She showed her newborn son, and as Taeimur and Kaetto were having a talk, Hjotennir came in, and Viroka had to introduce him as her husband, so he played along and backed up her story.
She also said she may leave the valley with her family, Kaettohi silently protested, but the Taes had to say they do not object.
Kaettohi left without saying a word. The two men, though, had a lot to talk about, and got on really well.
So, in a two-days time Maniiv and her pretended husband departed along with the caravan, leaving Tae Valley never to return.
Little did they know about the fate that decided to bring them together with the Tae people again.
